Education Keeper

We are looking for a confident, enthusiastic and passionate Education Keeper to join the team.  The role will primarily focus on the delivery of all our educational talks, animal experiences and educational visits working alongside our Education Officer.  The role will also include animal keeper duties working with a variety of small animals to ensure the highest standard of welfare and husbandry is delivered throughout the team.

The successful candidate will have knowledge and experience of caring for a wide range of small animals and experience of delivering formal educational talks and activities to all visitors, adjusting to specific audience needs. Applicants must be flexible and able to work as part of team and alone using their own initiative as well as being friendly, approachable and flexible. 

This is a full time seasonal position working on a rota basis.  The position is for an immediate start and the contract ends on the 30th September 2021.  The contract maybe extended depending on business needs.

Retail Assistant

Wild Discovery is looking for a friendly and hardworking person to join the retail team in the Gift Shop.

The successful candidate must deliver a high standard of customer service to all our visitors whilst providing information about Wild Discovery and therefore must have excellent communication skills.  The role will include dealing with all admissions and enquires, ensuring that the gift shop is presentable always and cleanliness of all customer areas.

Applicants must have retail and customer service experience.  The position is for 3 to 4 days per week, working Tuesday, Wednesday and Saturday and Fridays during peak seasons.  Start date is immediately.

Animal Trainer Internship

A new and exciting opportunity for future animal trainers. This role is aimed at candidates looking to gain experience for the role of an animal trainer for husbandry, welfare and displays. A unique internship based around training theory, logical and practical projects working alongside our experienced animal trainer.

This 12-month role, working full-time, will encompass a range of taxa, alongside basic husbandry duties. Each month will cover different topics including, amongst others:

All positions are voluntary. Unfortunately, Wild Discovery cannot provide any financial support to applying candidates however a uniform is provided once probabtion is successfully completed.

Interns operate on a rota basis, working 4 or 5 days out of 7. Candidates must be prepared to work weekends and bank holidays.

The start date for this position would be September 2021.
